Your shortlist for body composition

Compare weight-care services and their medication, monitoring and payment arrangements. A provider’s inclusion does not show that adding another prescription preserves muscle or improves an individual’s outcome.

What the rules check, and what to expect
Each one had to pass six rules. A clinician stands between you and the pharmacy. The month-to-month cost is on the page before checkout. The pharmacy is licensed in the US, nothing on the menu is a research-use peptide, the way out is in writing, and new patients can actually enroll. See How picks work for the full text.
Trials of approved semaglutide and tirzepatide products show weight loss in specific populations and regimens. Those results do not establish equivalence for compounded preparations. Weight loss can include lean mass, so read whether you can build muscle on tirzepatide. Then compare semaglutide and tirzepatide side by side.
How to choose between the picks
- Track the outcome you actually value. A lower scale weight does not reveal how much change was fat, water or lean tissue. DXA lean soft tissue is also different from a direct muscle-strength measurement. Ask whether the care plan follows practical function as well as body weight. Training performance or a clinician-selected functional measure can answer a different question from a scan. Avoid treating every reported lean-mass change as the same amount of muscle lost.
- Identify the exact weight-care product. Approved injections, approved tablets and compounded preparations are distinct purchases. Trial results belong to the molecule, formulation and regimen studied. An oral option should be named precisely rather than advertised as the needle-free equivalent of every shot. Check whether medication is included in the quoted service or purchased elsewhere. A familiar ingredient name does not settle quality, absorption or expected response.
- Plan support for eating and physical activity. Ask whether nutrition appointments and resistance-training support are actually included. Advertised coaching can mean different things from an appointment with a qualified dietitian. Discuss how the program responds when appetite changes make adequate eating difficult. Establish who coordinates those concerns with the prescribing clinician. A large supplement or hormone catalog is not a substitute for that practical support.
- Question every proposed muscle add-on. Sermorelin or testosterone can satisfy this page’s product filter without having proven muscle-preserving effects during GLP-1 treatment. Each additional prescription needs its own indication, risk assessment and follow-up. Ask which study tested the proposed combination in a population resembling yours. A growth-hormone marker rising does not demonstrate improved strength. Keep the extra medication, laboratory and visit costs separate when deciding whether the proposal makes sense.
Questions about this list
- What does a GLP-1 program cost each month?
- Compounded semaglutide shots run $75.58–$349 a month and compounded tirzepatide runs $85.58–$433.44 a month, counting providers with a public price. Compare brand-medication costs and any separate membership on their actual selected terms. Cards identify the product their figure covers.
- Will I lose muscle along with fat?
- Some. In a tirzepatide body-scan study, about three quarters of the weight lost was fat and a quarter was lean mass, the same split seen with placebo. Strength training and enough protein help protect muscle.
- Is compounded semaglutide the same as Wegovy?
- A familiar ingredient name does not establish the same finished product, quality, absorption or outcome. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved or reviewed through that approval process. Wegovy is the approved brand. The pick card tells you which one you're paying for.
- Does sermorelin help with body composition?
- Its inclusion reflects the comparison’s product scope, rather than an established muscle-preservation benefit. Small adult GHRH studies differ in molecule and design; hormone changes do not prove clinical benefit from a current compounded sermorelin preparation.
