# Peptide Clarity Guide > Plain-language peptide guides, evidence context, provider comparisons and practical cost tools for informed conversations about care. Updated October 2026. ## How our rankings work Scores are computed from a published rubric — price transparency, honest headline, dose-ladder pricing, access — and are **blind to whether we earn a commission**. Commercial relationships set display order on category pages, never the score, and every paid placement is labeled. 3 of 120 sellers we cover are current partners. Methodology: https://peptideclarityguide.com/how-picks-work ## Compounds (17) - CJC-1295 — Not FDA-approved. No legal US pharmacy route right now https://peptideclarityguide.com/what-is/cjc-1295 - Enclomiphene — Not FDA-approved; may be compounded by a licensed pharmacy. Not FDA-approved. No standalone enclomiphene active-ingredient product is approved in the reviewed FDA record. Listed in Category 1, "under evaluation", on FDA's 503A list updated May 2026 https://peptideclarityguide.com/what-is/enclomiphene - GHK-Cu — Not FDA-approved; may be compounded by a licensed pharmacy. Verify licenses independently, establish whether the product is FDA-approved or compounded, and ask how follow-up works. Then compare the full recurring price. A completed checklist helps organize questions; it cannot certify safety or prove a treatment will work. Updated October 2026. - [Can you build muscle on Ozempic? What the studies measured](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/can-you-build-muscle-on-ozempic): Semaglutide trials have not established muscle gain. Preserving strength and function is a separate question from changes in lean tissue. Part of the weight lost is lean mass. In a 2026 MRI analysis, the thigh-muscle difference versus placebo was uncertain while fat inside it dropped, and sit-to-stand scores held. Resistance training and enough protein are what trials show protect muscle. Updated October 2026. - [Can you build muscle while on tirzepatide? Keeping it comes first](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/can-you-build-muscle-on-tirzepatide): Tirzepatide has not been established as a muscle-building treatment. Its body-composition studies report changes in fat and lean tissue. In the SURMOUNT-1 body-scan substudy, about 75% of the weight lost was fat and 25% lean mass. That's the same split seen with placebo. Resistance training and enough protein help protect muscle. Updated October 2026. - [Tesamorelin combinations: what's been studied and what the label warns](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/can-you-combine-tesamorelin): The cited clinical evidence does not establish the safety or benefit of tesamorelin with sermorelin, CJC-1295, ipamorelin, retatrutide or growth hormone. Approved Egrifta products treat excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy and cannot be compounded. Its label warns about raised IGF-1, fluid retention and blood sugar, so any combination is a prescriber's call. Updated October 2026. - [Can you get ipamorelin or CJC-1295 legally? What FDA's record says](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/can-you-get-ipamorelin-cjc-1295-legally): No US pharmacy can lawfully compound ipamorelin or CJC-1295 right now. Neither has ever been FDA-approved, neither is on the 503A bulks list, and FDA's compounding advisers voted against adding them in October and December 2024. Vials sold online as "research use only" aren't sold for people. Updated October 2026. - [Can you get tesamorelin legally? The one route, and what to do instead](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/can-you-get-tesamorelin-legally): Tesamorelin is marketed in the US as prescription Egrifta SV and WR, approved for excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. FDA moved it to the biologics framework on March 2020, excluding 503A/503B compounding. Off-label prescribing of an approved product is separate from compounding and does not establish benefit for that use. Updated October 2026. - [NR and NMN together: an added benefit is not established](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/can-you-take-nr-and-nmn-together): The cited trials do not establish that NR plus NMN does more than either alone. A 2026 trial found the two raised blood NAD+ by similar amounts over 14 days, and suggested both work through the same gut-microbe route. An added benefit from combining them is unproven. Check with a pharmacist if you take medicines. Updated October 2026. - [How long CJC-1295 and ipamorelin take to work: what is actually known](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/cjc-1295-ipamorelin-results-timeline): The cited studies do not establish a clinical-results timetable for CJC-1295 with ipamorelin. The human data are hormone studies: one CJC-1295 injection raised growth hormone for at least 6 days and IGF-1 for 9 to 11 days in healthy adults. Neither peptide can be legally compounded in the US right now. Updated October 2026. - [Does metformin help with inflammation? Some, in some people](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-metformin-help-with-inflammation): Somewhat, but the human evidence is thin. In lab and animal studies metformin blocks inflammatory signaling. In people, results are mixed: in the Diabetes Prevention Program, CRP fell 14% in women and 7% in men at one year (placebo: 0% and +5%). A trial in non-diabetic heart patients found no change. It isn't approved for inflammation. Updated October 2026. - [Does NMN work? An outcome-by-outcome look at the trials](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-nmn-work): Several short human trials found that NMN raised blood NAD. Whether that turns into benefits you'd notice is far less clear. In placebo-controlled studies of 2 to 24 weeks, results for walking, muscle, insulin sensitivity and sleep were mixed or secondary. No trial has shown NMN slows aging in people. Updated October 2026. - [Does Ozempic slow down digestion? Yes, by design](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-ozempic-slow-digestion): Yes. Ozempic's FDA label says semaglutide delays early stomach emptying after meals, which is part of how it lowers blood sugar and appetite. In a small scan study, 37% of a solid meal was still in the stomach after four hours on semaglutide, versus none on placebo. Severe or lasting symptoms need a prescriber's attention. Updated October 2026. - [Can you build muscle on retatrutide? No trial shows it](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-retatrutide-build-muscle): No study shows retatrutide builds muscle. In a phase 2 body-scan substudy of adults with type 2 diabetes, people lost mostly fat and some lean mass. The authors called the lean share similar to other obesity treatments. Retatrutide isn't FDA-approved right now and can't legally be compounded. Updated October 2026. - [Does retatrutide give you energy? Not in any measured way](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-retatrutide-give-you-energy): There's no evidence it does. Retatrutide's glucagon action raised energy expenditure, meaning calories burned, in mouse studies. That isn't the same as feeling energetic, and the cited trials do not establish a subjective energy benefit. The trials mainly reported stomach side effects and a rise in heart rate. It isn't FDA-approved right now. Updated October 2026. - [Ozempic and inflammation: what the semaglutide trials measured](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-semaglutide-help-with-inflammation): Semaglutide reduced CRP, an inflammation marker, in weight-loss trials and eased knee osteoarthritis pain in one trial. These findings do not create a general inflammation indication. Wegovy does have a specific accelerated indication for noncirrhotic MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis in adults; applicability depends on the diagnosis and exact label. Updated October 2026. - [Does sermorelin build muscle? Small studies, mixed findings](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-sermorelin-build-muscle): Evidence is mixed and limited. Six weeks in 11 healthy older men did not change lean mass. A 12-week Geref trial in men with HIV-associated lipodystrophy found increased DXA lean mass, a secondary outcome. Neither establishes strength gains or a muscle-building benefit for healthy adults using current commercial regimens. Updated October 2026. - [Sermorelin for weight loss: the evidence is thin](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-sermorelin-help-with-weight-loss): There's little evidence that sermorelin causes weight loss. In a small study, six weeks of sermorelin in healthy older men raised growth hormone but didn't change weight, BMI or fat. "Burns belly fat" claims borrow from tesamorelin, a different drug that isn't for weight loss. Prescribers have FDA-approved weight options. Updated October 2026. - [Sermorelin and testosterone: different hormones, different jobs](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-sermorelin-increase-testosterone): Sermorelin isn't testosterone and isn't shown to raise it. It prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone, which can raise IGF-1. No controlled trial shows a testosterone rise. The study sellers cite involved men already on testosterone therapy taking sermorelin plus two other peptides. Low testosterone is diagnosed with blood tests and treated with FDA-approved testosterone. Updated October 2026. - [Does tesamorelin increase appetite? No, and it isn't a weight-loss drug](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-tesamorelin-affect-appetite): Tesamorelin isn't known to raise or suppress appetite: its FDA label lists no appetite effect and calls it weight neutral. What it does is reduce visceral (deep belly) fat. In 26-week HIV trials, visceral fat fell about 15% more than on placebo, while fat under the skin and body weight barely changed. Updated October 2026. - [Does tesamorelin help build muscle? A small effect in a narrow group](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-tesamorelin-build-muscle): Tesamorelin trials reported small lean-mass gains in adults with HIV, and a separate older-adult cognition trial reported a 3.7% DXA lean-tissue increase. Lean tissue is not the same as muscle strength or function. A responder-only HIV reanalysis found small trunk-muscle-area gains; these results do not establish athletic muscle-building efficacy. Updated October 2026. - [Does tesamorelin increase testosterone? No, it targets growth hormone](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-tesamorelin-increase-testosterone): No. Tesamorelin is a growth-hormone-releasing hormone analog: it prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone, which raises IGF-1. Egrifta's FDA label reports no clinically significant change in luteinizing hormone (LH), the pituitary signal that drives testosterone, or in TSH, ACTH or prolactin. The cited evidence does not establish a testosterone increase. Updated October 2026. - [Zepbound, Mounjaro and inflammation: what the tirzepatide trials measured](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-tirzepatide-help-with-inflammation): Tirzepatide, the drug in Zepbound and Mounjaro, lowered inflammation markers in trials. In a 72-week weight-loss trial, hsCRP fell 37 to 55% more than placebo, depending on dose, and interleukin-6 fell too. That's a change in blood markers, not an approved use. Zepbound is approved for weight and sleep apnea, Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes. Updated October 2026. - [Wegovy, Ozempic and energy: fatigue and function in trials](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-wegovy-give-you-energy): Wegovy is not approved as an energy treatment, and fatigue is a listed side effect. In the trials behind its label, 11% of adults on Wegovy reported fatigue or weakness, vs 5% on placebo. Physical function scores improved as weight came down, which may feel like more energy later. If tiredness lasts, tell your prescriber. Updated October 2026. - [Zepbound, Mounjaro and energy: fatigue and vitality in trials](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-zepbound-give-you-energy): Zepbound is not approved as an energy treatment. In its weight-loss trials, 5–7% of adults reported fatigue or weakness, depending on dose, against 3% on placebo. People losing more weight reported bigger function and quality-of-life gains; vitality scores also improved. If you feel run down, tell your prescriber rather than changing your dose. Updated October 2026. - [Does Zepbound help with anxiety? It isn't treated as one](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/does-zepbound-help-with-anxiety): Zepbound is not approved as an anxiety treatment, and the cited studies do not establish anxiety-treatment efficacy. FDA reviewed GLP-1 trials covering about 108,000 people, found no increased risk of suicidal thoughts, and in January 2026 asked for that warning to be removed. A 2026 study found anxiety and depression rates on tirzepatide similar to semaglutide. Updated October 2026. - [GHK-Cu cost: what prescription creams and foams cost each month](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/ghk-cu-cost): Prescription topical GHK-Cu from the telehealth programs below costs $79.50–$209 a month, with required membership included where the data establish it; confirm the applicable term. Some advertise a lower first month. Injectable GHK-Cu has no lawful US pharmacy route, so it has no legitimate price. Cosmetic copper-peptide serums are sold without a prescription. Updated October 2026. - [Does GHK-Cu help with acne? Not on current evidence](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/ghk-cu-for-acne): No. No controlled trial shows that GHK-Cu treats acne. A PubMed search found no acne trial of it, and a 2026 systematic review calls the human evidence for GHK-Cu thin and fragmented. The American Academy of Dermatology's 2024 guideline strongly recommends other treatments, such as benzoyl peroxide and topical retinoids. Updated October 2026. - [Does GHK-Cu help with hair growth? The evidence is about related molecules](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/ghk-cu-for-hair-growth): A small 2026 eyebrow study tested GHK-Cu serum in 18 participants and reported improvement at 12 weeks. That does not establish scalp or beard benefit. Scalp studies often used GHK without copper, AHK-Cu in laboratory work, or multi-ingredient regimens; they cannot isolate a GHK-Cu effect. Updated October 2026. - [How long GHK-Cu takes to work on skin and hair: what the studies measured](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/ghk-cu-how-long-to-work): There's no well-tested timeline for GHK-Cu. In a small post-laser randomized trial, a copper-peptide skin regimen used for 12 weeks after laser resurfacing made no measurable difference in redness or wrinkles, though users rated their skin better. Thirteen people finished it. There's no controlled human trial of injectable GHK-Cu. Updated October 2026. - [How long NMN takes to work: what trials measured, and when](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/how-long-does-nmn-take-to-work): In trials, NMN raised blood NAD within weeks: by day 14 in one study and by day 30 in another. Walking speed, sleep scores and insulin sensitivity were checked at 6 to 24 weeks, with mixed results. Some trials report questionnaire improvements, but they do not establish a reliable personal timeline. Updated October 2026. - [How to get sermorelin: prescription, programs, and what to avoid](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/how-to-get-sermorelin): You get sermorelin with a prescription from a licensed clinician, filled by a compounding pharmacy. Many telehealth programs handle both the visit and the shipping. Sermorelin isn't currently FDA-approved: the brand Geref was discontinued in 2008, and FDA said in 2013 that wasn't for safety reasons. "Research use only" vials aren't a prescription route. Updated October 2026. - [Can you get injectable GHK-Cu legally? What FDA's record says](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/injectable-ghk-cu-legal-status): No. There's no pharmacy route for injectable GHK-Cu in the US right now. FDA flagged it as a significant safety risk for compounding in 2023, the nominations were withdrawn in April 2026, and it's on no list that permits compounding. Topical GHK-Cu is different: it's a cosmetic ingredient, and the non-injectable form is in FDA's Category 1. Updated October 2026. - [Is NMN legit? FDA supplement status and the clinical evidence](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/is-nmn-legit): FDA no longer categorically excludes NMN from dietary supplements, but individual products must still satisfy supplement law. In 2022 FDA said NMN couldn't be a supplement because it had been studied as a drug first. In September 2025 FDA reversed that after industry petitions. Trials show it raises blood NAD, but health benefits are inconsistent. Updated October 2026. - [Is NMN safe? Short-trial findings and longer-term unknowns](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/is-nmn-safe): In human trials lasting from a single dose to 24 weeks, NMN didn't cause more side effects than placebo, and lab results stayed in normal ranges. Those trials can't tell you whether NMN is safe for years, in pregnancy, alongside other medicines, or with cancer. FDA doesn't approve supplements before sale, so check with your clinician first. Updated October 2026. - [NAD+ with tirzepatide: benefits and risks are not established](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/nad-and-tirzepatide-together): The cited evidence does not establish the benefits, risks or interaction profile of NAD+ with tirzepatide. Tirzepatide is approved as Zepbound and Mounjaro; compounded NAD+ injections are not FDA-approved. An unstudied interaction is not a safety assurance. Discuss both products with the prescriber and pharmacist before combining them. Updated October 2026. - [NAD+ injection cost: what at-home and clinic plans charge](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/nad-injection-cost): Selected current NAD+ injection offers include Brightmeds at $129 monthly, Strut at $149 per 500 mg vial, and HealthRX at $161 for a one-month subscription. Live Vital advertises $149 per month on a three-month protocol. Compare the full commitment, renewal terms and prescribed quantity before treating the numbers as equivalent. Updated October 2026. - [How long NAD+ injections take to work: what's measured and what isn't](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/nad-injections-how-long-to-work): No trial has measured how long NAD+ injections take to make healthy people feel different. A 2026 systematic review found no outcome trials of injected or IV NAD+ for anti-aging or wellness. In a small infusion study, plasma NAD+ didn't rise for the first 2 hours of a 6-hour drip. Timelines on clinic pages aren't trial results. Updated October 2026. - [NAD+ at home or by IV drip: what's known about each route](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/nad-injections-or-iv): No trial has compared IV NAD+ with at-home injections, and neither route has been shown to improve energy or aging in healthy people. IV drips are given at a clinic over hours. At-home injections are prescribed kits from telehealth programs, whose prices depend on the vial and billing commitment. Cost, time and comfort usually decide it. Updated October 2026. - [NMN and NAD+ together: same pathway, different products](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/nmn-and-nad-together): NMN and NAD+ aren't the same: NMN is a building block your cells convert into NAD+. The cited studies do not establish an added benefit or safety profile for combining an NMN supplement with NAD+ products. On its own, NMN raised blood NAD in small trials. If you're on prescription NAD+, ask that prescriber first. Updated October 2026. - [Sermorelin and ipamorelin: evidence and compounding limits](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/sermorelin-and-ipamorelin-together): The cited studies do not establish sermorelin and ipamorelin together. They act on different receptors (sermorelin on the GHRH receptor, ipamorelin on the ghrelin receptor), which is why the pairing is promoted. Ipamorelin lacks an ordinary US compounding exemption; FDA advisers recommended against listing it in October 2024. Sermorelin is available by prescription, compounded. Updated October 2026. - [Sermorelin with tirzepatide: what's known, and what to ask first](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/sermorelin-and-tirzepatide-together): The cited studies do not establish the combination, and the tirzepatide label doesn't mention sermorelin. The main open question is blood sugar: tirzepatide lowers it, while raising growth hormone can push it up. If you want both, one prescriber who knows about both should manage them and decide which labs to check. Updated October 2026. - [Sermorelin cost: what telehealth programs charge each month](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/sermorelin-cost): Selected current offers include Strut’s $99 30-day 30-lozenge supply and $119 30-day injection supply, Brightmeds at $129 monthly, and HealthRX at $179 for a one-month injection plan. Supply, formulation, prepaid commitments and renewal schedules differ; these are not interchangeable clinical treatments. Updated October 2026. - [How long sermorelin takes to work, and what "working" means](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/sermorelin-how-long-to-work): Sermorelin raises growth hormone release within weeks, but measured changes in adults are small. In the main study of older men, six weeks raised night-time growth hormone without changing IGF-1, weight or body composition. These findings do not establish a reliable personal timeline for feeling better. Updated October 2026. - [Tesamorelin and ipamorelin together: untested and not legally compounded](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/tesamorelin-and-ipamorelin-together): The cited studies do not establish this combination. Neither drug qualifies for ordinary US compounding exemptions. Tesamorelin is sold only as the brand Egrifta, for HIV-associated belly fat. Ipamorelin is unapproved; advisers recommended against listing it in October 2024. A pre-mixed blend of the two has no lawful source. Updated October 2026. - [Tesamorelin cost: brand-only pricing, insurance, and why there's no cheap version](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/tesamorelin-cost): Approved tesamorelin products are brand Egrifta (SV or WR), so what you pay depends mostly on insurance coverage for its approved use, HIV-associated abdominal fat. There's no generic and, since March 2020, no lawful compounded version. Cheap research vials aren't a legal option for people. Updated October 2026. - [How long tesamorelin takes to work: the trial checkpoints](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/tesamorelin-how-long-to-work): Tesamorelin's main effect, less visceral (deep belly) fat, was measured at 26 weeks: −15.2% versus +5.0% on placebo in the main trial of 412 adults with HIV. People who stayed on it held the reduction at 52 weeks. People who stopped regained most of it within six months. All of these trials enrolled people with HIV. Updated October 2026. - [Testosterone injections, cream or capsules: how the TRT forms compare](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/testosterone-injections-or-cream): All three forms deliver the same hormone; they differ in how often you dose, what the label warns about, and cost. Gels carry a boxed warning about exposing children to the drug on your skin; oral and auto-injector labels had blood-pressure boxed warnings removed in 2025. Your prescriber picks the form. Updated October 2026. - [Ozempic, Wegovy and the brain: appetite, mood and what trials ruled out](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/what-does-ozempic-do-to-your-brain): Semaglutide, the drug in Ozempic, works partly through the brain's appetite signals, which is why people feel full sooner. In January 2026, FDA said its review of 91 trials found no increased risk of suicidal thoughts, anxiety or depression. Two large trials found it didn't slow early Alzheimer's. Any mood benefit is unproven. Updated October 2026. - [Where to buy NMN: supplement aisle, not pharmacy counter](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/where-to-buy-nmn): In the US, NMN is sold over the counter as a dietary supplement, online and in stores, with no prescription. FDA said in 2022 it couldn't be sold that way, then reversed course in September 2025. FDA doesn't test supplements before sale, so the label, third-party testing and a certificate of analysis are what you go on. Updated October 2026. - [Where to get NAD+ injections: telehealth, clinics, and what to avoid](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/where-to-get-nad-injections): For prescribed NAD+ injections, start with a licensed clinician and a licensed pharmacy, through a telehealth program or an in-person service. NAD+ is not FDA-approved. Its 503A Category 1 listing is subject to a conditional interim enforcement policy, not blanket authorization. Confirm the preparation, pharmacy, availability in your state and full recurring quote before paying. Updated October 2026. - [Why people stop taking NMN, and what the research says](https://peptideclarityguide.com/guides/why-people-stop-taking-nmn): The cited trials do not establish why most people stop NMN. They show increased blood NAD, with inconsistent changes in sleep, walking or questionnaire scores. Lack of noticeable benefit, cost and uncertainty are reasons someone might reassess use; they are not measured population-wide reasons for quitting. Updated October 2026. ## Narrower shortlists - [NAD+ injections: the shortlist](https://peptideclarityguide.com/for/energy/nad-injections): providers that sell NAD+ as an at-home injection. - [Tirzepatide: the shortlist](https://peptideclarityguide.com/for/metabolic/tirzepatide): providers that sell tirzepatide, compounded or brand. -
